At the beginning of January, my boyfriend (now my husband) Rob and I decided to have a night away somewhere we could just disconnect from the world as well as the constant worries and to-do lists. A vacation to actually relax, and the timing ended up working out perfectly since the weekend I had free also fell on my birthday. Winter is the perfect time of year for a relaxing getaway, because the colder and snowier weather forces you to slow down a bit and enjoy your surroundings (including the warmth of a cozy hotel or shop), and really take it all in.
My cousin recommended Cedarburg to us and we fell in love with it. I've been wanting to put together a little breakdown post about our trip ever since, in hopes that others in the Midwest will maybe stumble on it when searching for a relaxing place nearby they can go for a quick weekend. Especially in the winter when you are looking for something extra cozy. Side note: I’m sure there are many great places in Cedarburg that we didn’t get to visit, but I wanted to share what we did enjoy about the town during our quick stay.
Cedarburg, Wisconsin is only two hours north of Chicago, half an hour past Milwaukee. Far enough away that it definitely felt like a change of scenery, but close enough that we were able to easily drive up for two days and one night.
